Every now and again, I go through obsessive periods about certain types of art. Right now, my love is the portrait. Don't you think portraits add such a warm, personal touch to a room? Even Will and Grace's apartment had that gorgeous portrait by the fireplace!

Photography is blowing up so much right now that painting seems to have been forgotten along the way. So it's exciting to see Kim Cogan getting noticed for his amazing, quiet, evocative paintings of San Francisco. They make me want to visit my gorgeous and talented sister Lucy. A reader in Germany gave me a tip about the painter Gerd Brunzema, who paints his children while they're sleeping. My reader says: "Very strange. It isn't cute at all. But I like it, cause it looks authentic." I find the series really sweet, though. (What do you think, readers: Creepy or cute?) Either way, they're wonderful.
