Here we go. It's a strained meniscus- they're going to hold off on the MRI until after the season. I would be willing to bet that he'll get that baby scoped out after the season. There has been a funny juxtaposition between the people that have been saying the the Truth is ruined forever and the people that think that the whole thing was picked up in the trash bin of the WCW writer's room. Neither is probably correct- as with most things- if you have a fringe opinion you are mostly full of crap. Here's what Chris "OMG!!! PIERCE HAS BEEN DESTROYED!!! DOCTORS MAY AMPUTATE IMMEDIATELY" Sheridan is saying now:
BOSTON -- Paul Pierce does not have any structural damage to his knee.
At least that's what the Boston Celtics are saying, although they haven't performed an MRI to take a look at exactly how badly Pierce damaged his meniscus when he was injured during the third quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
"It still could be worse than I'm really putting off. I'm not planning on getting an MRI until after the season, so I mean, it could be bad, but right now I'm just getting treatments and see how I feel on Sunday," Pierce said Friday, adding that there's a "great chance" he'll play in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
So, there you go. It's not as bad as the worst case scenario.
Now, as for the people that are saying it was all made up, such as Slobbering Bill Plasche and Zen Master Phil, I will present the following points:
1) No one that is making this argument was actually there or has any inside information.
2) I would contend that the only reason that people think that it was blown out of proportion was that weird dude with red hair trying to block the cameras with his hands when they were wheeling Pierce down the tunnel into the locker room. Who was that guy, and what was up with that? Blocking the camera with your hand is only used for stymieing the paparazzi when you're out with another woman, coming out of the police station after you post bail, when investigative local reporters expose your shady business, and when you're being led out to the car after a "guilty" verdict. That weird redheaded dude made the situation weird by blocking the camera.
3) The "he came back too quickly" argument is really strange to me. What is the appropriate time to be in the locker room, I ask? Two more minutes? Fifteen minutes? I'm sure the Lakers thought he came out to early because he torched them as soon as he got back. This is a convenient point to make because it isn't a point at all.
4) Anyone who has ever sprained or strained something knows that getting that thing under ice as soon as possible is critical. You don't want to put weight on it until the severity is diagnosed. I would have thought that Plaskhcke would know from his carpal tunnel syndrome he developed feverishly masturbating to pictures of Shaquille O'Neal... but apparently not. Anyway, anybody who's had an ankle or a knee pop, which I have had both, knows that the initial pain is extreme but sometimes you luck out and sometimes you don't. Now, I've never had to be taken off in a wheelchair................ but still. Other than that weirdo blocking the cameras I thought the Celtics staff did a great job taking care of their captain and he managed to return. Certainly a lot better than Scalabrine driving a ACL-torn Tony Allen and his mom to the hospital like last year.
The Celtics will take care of the Truth in the next couple days with plenty of ice and electro-stim and I would be shocked if he wasn't ready to roll on Sunday.Source URL: http://ledger-heath.blogspot.com/2008/06/media-sucks-sheridan-horrible-reign-of.html
