In a move that surprised absolutely no one that pays attention to these things, the refs assigned for tonight's game are the most controversial and least competent available. Yes, Joey Crawford and Bennett Salvatore, the worst combination of incompetent hacks since Arnold and DeVito teamed up for "Twins". AwfulAnnouncing is on the case. Bill Simmons certainly called his shot after Game 2.
If you're a Lakers fan, take solace in the fact you'll get every call at the Staples Center if the crowd shows up; not only do these things have a way of coming around, but if Bennett Salvatore doesn't officiate Game 3, it will be the biggest sports upset of this century.
Salvatore is guilty of by far the worst call of the postseason- the offensive foul call on Pierce while the Truth drained a three with Stuckey all over him. That call was far worse than the Joey Crawford special when he didn't make a call on that final Brent Barry shot against the Lakers. If Crawford had whistled Barry for an offensive foul, that would have been the worst call of the playoffs. Salvatore also was the ref that made that BS foul call for Dwayne Wade at the end of Game 5 two years ago in the finals. (Wade missed the layup but got the foul call and hit the two free throws to win with less than 2 seconds left.)
The Celtics definitely have an uphill battle tonight on the road against a fired-up Lakers team with what will surely be frustrating officiating. However, if the Celts can pull this one off... and I think they can...
