THOSE WERE THE DAYS...
It's odd to think back to the woeful days of the Celtics from just over a year ago... when the most excitement we would get was when Scalabrine entered the game and we were all on the edge of our seats to see if he would go into a diabetic shock from all the Krispy Kremes he was eating on the bench. We also had a steady stream of hilarious excuses as to why Sebastian Telfair was arrested or wasn't playing. The best one was when he was driving in NY and was busted speeding, with a suspended license, and with a loaded gun under the seat. Not having his girlfriend around to blame (because haven't we all had a girlfriend that randomly stuffed our luggage with guns when we were taking a cross-country flight?), Bassy had to take that one on the chin. Now, a year later, after his sentencing (3 years' probation), he's getting suspended for a minimum of two games, as the rumor says:
Telfair said the New York Daily News report was news to him. Citing unidentified sources, the Daily News reported that Telfair would be suspended "for a minimum of two" games after being sentenced last month to three years' probation for misdemeanor possession of a loaded handgun, speeding and driving without a license in Westchester, N.Y., in April 2007. Wittman said the Wolves have received no notification from the NBA that a suspension is coming for Telfair, who was with the Boston Celtics at the time.
Can't say that resident I*Heart*Celtics soothsayer Nic didn't see this coming:
