Celtic's Pre-Season Begins! (with a 92-98 loss to the Sixers....)

Despite the score, the Celtic's opener at the Mullin Center was filled with many positives. The starters got off to a 16-4 lead, flexing their muscles early sending the message that they could beat the piss out of the Sixers anytime they tried. Thankfully the BIg 3 played limited minutes and the bench got a chance to take control of the game.

Darius Miles went 3 of 3, looked great on the defensive end and had this to say after the game:

"I couldn't sleep last night, I was so nervous," Miles said. "I'm not an option on this team, I'm just a role player. But that's fine with me. I love the way this team plays defense."

Wow. For any D-Miles doubters, this game was very reassuring. The best Darius moment of the night came when Scal subbed him out and they exchanged THE most awkward high-5 ever in NBA history.

Despite looking like a homeless LeBron James, Bill Walker has been nasty all summer and continued his onslaught tonight with a ridiculous alley-oop on Theo Ratliff's wrinkled face. The critics have been very positive about Bill, with some people speculating that Danny might have found another a second-round gem.

Probably the biggest surprise of the night was Patrick O'Bryant. He got the start with Perk recovering from shoulder surgery and rose to the occasion. While we all know him best for getting 'punked' by J-Rich, it appears he can play ball too. He looked at home in the starting line-up, coming out strong and finishing with 10 points, 8 boards. He fizzled down the stretch, but could be a great pickup as a 3rd string big man.

Finally, Tony Allen looked solid all night. He got plenty of minutes, got to run the point for a while, and had that "pre-knee explosion" Tony-swagger to his step. He was attacking the basket and played aggressive. A healthy/confident Tony could be the remedy to the departure of James Posey.Source URL: http://ledger-heath.blogspot.com/2008/10/celtic-pre-season-begins-with-92-98.html
