CELTICS FRIGGIN' DESTROY THE WIZARDS; I*HEART*CELTICS CONTINUES TO STRUGGLE WITH HOW TO DEAL WITH ACTUALLY HAVING A GOOD TEAM
The Celtics opened their season with a 103-83 curbstomp of the Washington Wizards last night. The Wizards, of course, used to always beat the Celtics in agonizing games. Those times are over. Last night, the Wizards looked as if they were the campers playing the counselors. The Celtics blew the game open in the second quarter and then pretty much chilled out for the rest of the game.
KG had 22 points and 20 rebounds. He also led the team with 5 assists. Pierce had 28 points on 10-19 shooting, and Ray Allen had 17 points on 5-10 shooting. The great, great news with Ray Allen was that he had no turnovers. That was one of my beefs with Wally- he had limited touches but he turned the ball over all the time. Ray Allen demonstrated that he has the ability to do a lot without much time with the ball. Pierce, as well, looked far more comfortable creating his shots. Instead of dribbling aimlessly around the perimeter and then jacking up a ridonkulous fadeaway three, he was attacking the basket. And KG looked like he was about a half a foot taller than anyone else on the floor. Things are looking very good for the C's. The only real cause for concern that I could see was Perk, who gave extra ammunition to those who claim he is the worst center in the Eastern Conference. He made Brendan Haywood look like Patrick Ewing. But, it doesn't really matter at this point. The Celtics are going to be amazing, and all Perk needs to do is SMASH people that come near the basket, and that's exactly what he was doing. While I may shudder to think what will happen when KG gets in early foul trouble and we have a front line of Perk and Pollard, who looked like they were playing basketball for the first time last night, we'll cross that bridge when we get there... and chances are Pierce and Jesus will be able to shoot their way out of it. Overall, a VERY encouraging start for the most-hyped team of the decade. Go C's!Source URL: http://ledger-heath.blogspot.com/2007/11/domination.html
